Escalation Guidelines

Not every tip needs the same speed or the same audience. Here's how the Youth Board decides what happens next.

Low urgency

Reviewed in the normal queue, generally within a school week. No urgent handling needed.

Medium urgency

Prioritized ahead of low-urgency items and typically addressed within a few school days.

High urgency

Flagged for same-week review. Safety concerns or anything suggesting immediate risk to a student get looked at first.

When a tip goes to the Presidents

Most tips are resolved directly by the Youth Board. A tip gets escalated to the district Presidents when the board decides it needs authority or resources beyond what students can act on themselves — recurring safety issues, a pattern affecting many students, or a concern about staff conduct. Board members select the tip, confirm the escalation, and it lands in the Presidents' queue for the next review.

A note on emergencies

YouthVoice is reviewed by students on a rolling basis, not monitored in real time. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, always contact a trusted adult or call 911 first — don't rely on a tip submission for anything urgent happening right now.
